Deben Inn’s journey began in 1992 when Mick and Ann Lomas took over The Wilford Bridge in Melton, marking the start of a family-run pub business rooted in community, care, and loyalty. Their dedication to creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere set the tone for everything that followed. In 1997, Steve and Louise Lomas took on The Maybush Inn in Waldringfield, growing the business from there and gradually expanding to include The Butt & Oyster at Pin Mill in 2001, followed by The Fox Inn in Newbourne, The Coach & Horses in Melton, The Swan at Westerfield, The Ship at Levington, and The Kings Head in Woodbridge. Each pub reflects the unique charm and character of its location while maintaining the family’s high standards and commitment to hospitality.

Today, the third generation is actively involved, with Steve’s and Lou’s son, Sam, working closely alongside Steve to continue the family legacy. Having lived and grown up in this community, the Lomas family understands the importance of supporting local people, producers, and traditions. Each venue offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, where guests can enjoy delicious food, great drinks, and genuine hospitality. From the picturesque coastal views at The Maybush to the historic charm of The Butt & Oyster, every pub has its own distinctive style and character.
