Meet Dale – Our Very Own Wine Expert
At the heart of our wine journey is Dale, General Manager of The Butt & Oyster at Pin Mill. With a genuine passion for wine and both WSET Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications under his belt, Dale has become our go-to expert for all things wine. He’s now sharing his knowledge with customers through our Pour & Pair with Dale video series, offering recommendations, tasting tips and advice on which wines work best with some of your favourite dishes. From finding the perfect red to accompany a steak to discovering a refreshing white that complements seafood, Dale’s aim is simple – to make wine more enjoyable and accessible for everyone.

Working with Majestic to Bring You Great Wines
We’re proud to work closely with Majestic Commercial, who supply the wine lists across seven of our eight pubs. Our partnership goes far beyond simply choosing bottles. Together, we regularly review our wine selections, explore new varieties and ensure we’re offering a fantastic range of wines to suit every taste and occasion. Majestic also provides quarterly wine training for our teams, helping them build their knowledge and confidence so they can recommend the perfect glass or bottle for you. After all, you shouldn’t have to be a wine expert to enjoy great wine!
Wine Wednesday – A Little Midweek Treat
If you enjoy a glass of wine, Wednesdays at Deben Inns are something to look forward to! With our popular Wine Wednesday offer, simply purchase two large glasses of the same wine and we’ll give you the rest of the bottle to enjoy. All eight of our pubs use Le Verre de Vin wine preservation systems, helping us keep opened bottles fresh and maintain their quality. This means we can offer a wonderful variety of wines by the glass, giving you more choice without compromising on freshness or flavour.
Every Cork Counts! 🌍
Our passion for wine doesn’t stop when the bottle is empty. Through our partnership with Majestic, we’re also taking steps to make our wine service more sustainable by recycling our natural wine corks. Rather than throwing them away, our used corks are collected and recycled into useful new products, helping reduce waste and give this natural material a second life. It’s a small change, but one we’re proud to be part of.
