English Wine Week is all about celebrating the growing quality and reputation of wines produced closer to home. Throughout the week, all Deben Inns pubs will be highlighting a selection of English wines, carefully chosen to complement our menus and the summer season. Whether you’re already a fan or trying English wine for the first time, it’s a great opportunity to explore something special in a relaxed pub setting.
Barge Match Day – 11th July at The Butt & Oyster
One of the most iconic events on the river returns this summer — the annual Barge Match on 11th July — and there’s no better place to experience it than The Butt & Oyster.
A true celebration of maritime heritage, the Barge Match sees magnificent traditional sailing barges take to the water in a spectacle that’s both powerful and beautifully nostalgic. Watching them glide along the river is something special — and from The Butt & Oyster, you’ll have an unbeatable view.
With the summer sun (hopefully) shining, it’s the perfect excuse to settle in for the day. Enjoy seasonal food, a chilled drink in hand, and the lively atmosphere as locals and visitors alike gather to watch the action unfold.
